DO YOU STILL VALUE HUMAN TRANSLATION?
 |
Muttersprachler.com is a friendly little Canadian translating practice, specializing in the expert human into-English translation of German-language historiographical texts, especially those dealing with the modern era (Zeitgeschichte).
The Muttersprachler.com office is located in the small harbour village of Horseshoe Bay, overlooking the beautiful fjord waters of Queen Charlotte Channel, where the Coast Mountains of British Columbia meet the Pacific Ocean. Clients should note that we are in the Pacific Time Zone (GMT -8) and our operating hours are 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday (except holidays). |

Why choose my service to translate your historiographical material? If you're not in a huge rush and prefer finely crafted work, here are eight convincing reasons:
- Because I am a professionally qualified translator. I work only into my first language (English) and never in the opposite direction. This ensures that the final product is always correct and clear.
- Because I am a German-into-English specialist. This is my only language pairing and direction, and I have over 35 years of experience in handling it as a translator and revisor in government, industry, commerce, the humanities, and popular culture.
- Because I am an experienced student of history. As a doctoral candidate in modern German history, I have unique expertise in historiographical writing and editing, with special interest in the fields of modern German diplomatic, military, and intelligence history; modern German cultural history; and twentieth-century Anglo-German relations.
- Because I am an experienced Internet professional. If your documents are Web documents, I can work directly within your HTML source code, thereby avoiding the costly process of converting your webpages into and out of plain text.
- Because I have been working as a linguist for a very long time. I believe translating is primarily a professional activity, not a business. Consequently, I continue to maintain the high professional standards that prevailed in the days before marketism and globalization.
- Because I am strictly a human translator. I do not use machine translation when processing texts. This means, while the processing time may be longer, your project is guaranteed focussed human attention and nuanced accuracy from start to finish.
- Because I am neither an agent nor an employer. Your projects will not be subcontracted or parcelled out to other translators or to agencies. All contracts are processed personally by me.
- Because I care about my work. For me translating ... my vocation, my work, my craft ... is inestimably useful and a passion. Without you, my client, I have no work, and without my work I have, quite simply, no labour value.
